Job Description
|
An innovative startup biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering and developing new antibiotics directed at novel microbial targets. We are currently seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist, Lead Discovery who will play a key role in designing and implementing the screening cascade for lead discovery and optimization. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Biology and will be responsible for developing and implementing biochemical and biological screens to facilitate the identification and optimization of antibiotic lead compounds. As the primary designee for compound screening, this individual will be an important and integral contributor to the success of our discovery and development program. This screening cascade will include proprietary in vitro ligand-RNA binding assays, bacterial activity assays, and mammalian cell culture assays designed to measure key optimization parameters. To carry out these tasks, the successful candidate will also be expected to assist with the recruiting, supervision, and professional development of junior-level scientists. Successful applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, or molecular biology with a minimum of 2 years of industrial experience. The successful candidate will have a strong background in RNA biochemistry and molecular biology, with significant experience designing and trouble-shooting quantitative biochemical and biological assays. High-level understanding of ligand-macromolecular binding interactions and enzyme kinetics is essential. The qualified individual should also be proficient in identifying structure activity relationships (SAR) to address lead discovery, potency, selectivity, and efficacy. Preference will be given to candidates with experience overseeing a screening program, including the operation of screening and liquid handling instrumentation. Experience with cell culture techniques and facility maintenance are desirable. The individual must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of scientists, including biologists, pharmacologists, and chemists. This is an excellent opportunity to be integral part of a diverse team of scientists working to expand the frontier of antibiotics development, bringing new medicines to those critically in need. This position offers the right candidate a highly competitive salary, stock option, and benefit programs reflect the Company's regard for the importance of its employees. Interested applicants should send a cover letter and resume to candidates@biointegrationsearch.com for immediate consideration. Must have 2years or more industry experience. US residents, only.
