Job Description
|
We are seeking an experienced Synthetic/Medicinal Chemist to build and direct our Chemistry Center. The Chemistry Center is engaging in the design, synthesis and identification of novel organic compounds as promising chemical tools and/or therapeutic candidates using synthetic chemistry approaches. The primary responsibility of this position is in charging of the overall strategy and function of the chemistry group, including setting up the laboratory, recruiting, managing and supervising a team of chemists to meet the demand of internal small molecule discovery efforts. The head of the Center will work closely with a group of experimental biologists and computational chemists to initiate and strengthen small molecule associated biology research programs at NIBS. The successful candidate is expected to report regularly to NIBS directors and communicate with internal and external scientific communities. Independent research programs are also encouraged with the primary responsibility fulfilled.
Requirements
- PhD in Organic/Medicinal Chemistry with advanced postdoctoral experience preferred
- Demonstrated leadership in academic/industry research setting
- A proven track record in the design, synthesis and development of small molecule drug candidates, experience in structure-based drug discovery is a plus
- Strong publication record and presentation skills
