|
We are seeking one postdoctoral research associate to work in medicinal chemistry projects on the design of novel molecules directed towards several key therapeutic targets. Applicants should have a PhD in Chemistry or a closely related area and significant post-doctoral research experience is an equal opportunity employer and actively seeks diversity among its employees.in computational chemistry in the context of medicinal chemistry projects and ideally have some experience in biological evaluation. The position requires good oral and written communication skills and offers the opportunity to carry out basic scientific research within a highly motivated and productive team.
The successful applicants will be expected to maintain an externally funded research program within the Medicinal Chemistry Division. The appointees will also play a major role in the organisation and running of the molecular modelling laboratory, including assisting with supervision of PhD students.
Experience
The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in chemistry, pharmacy, or related fields with a strong background in physical chemistry and at least three years of postdoctoral experience.
Successful applicants will have experience in molecular simulation and standard molecular mechanics software packages such as Amber, CHARMM, Gaussian, Gromacs, or NAMD. Practical knowledge of ligand-based modelling techniques is an advantage.
Strong computational skills are desired including scientific programming experience and experience with UNIX environments.
An ideal candidate would be highly competent in a number of programming and scripting languages such as C++, FORTRAN, perl, and python. Candidate must also display exceptional motivation and the ability and desire to work both independently and as part of a team and show an active interest in medicinal chemistry. Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
