Computational Chemistry
We seek a scientist who will use structure-guided Computer Assisted Drug Design techniques to aid in the discovery and optimization of novel lead compounds for targets in selected protein families and will also assist the strategic direction of compound design in specific programs, and will be involved in prioritizing efforts in lead discovery, ADMET prediction and pre-clinical optimization.
Extensive experience with iterative structure-guided compound optimization target projects in the context of strong medicinal chemistry is required. Experience with novel scaffold and combinatorial library design is preferred. Experience programming in Perl, C, Fortran, Java or C++ is required. Some experience in each of the following areas is essential: Protein binding site analyses, high-throughput 3D Pharmacophore and/or docking approaches, ab initio calculations, molecular dynamics simulations. Requires a PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field with at least 5 years experience in a research and development stage biotech or pharmaceutical company, including familiarity with the preclinical lead development process.
Candidates should have a track record of accomplishments demonstrating technical proficiency, independent thought, scientific creativity, successful collaboration with others and excellent communication skills. Expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts in the field is expected, as well as the ability to serve as a resource for colleagues. Experience with bioactive lead compound design in the Kinase, Phosphodiesterase and/or Nuclear Hormone Receptor protein families will be considered a plus.
