TCI America, located in Portland, Oregon is a manufacturer & distributor of specialty organic chemicals to researchers in the pharmaceutical, bio-tech, and other related industries
Summary of Job Duties of a Production Chemist:
A. Performs established, standardized organic chemical experiments and R&D experiments according to batch record or assists method development of such experiments.
B. Assists in implementing new testing and analytical methods involving either automated analytical systems or manual laboratory analytical procedures
C. Completely and precisely record relevant information in laboratory notebooks and prepares analytical reports.
D. Studies reports from similar projects to learn more about the chemical processes involved.
E. Develops and suggests minor adaptations and fills in the gaps found in the newly developed guidelines that govern the new testing methods.
F. Extends and modifies approaches, precedents, and methods to solve a variety of chemical problems with unprecedented and obscure aspects
G. Solves problems and improves the methods and processes of organic synthesis, which often require the development, adaptation, and modification of precedents, methods, and procedures.
H. Assist in conducting research on manufactured products to develop and improve products
I. Coordinate & operationally supervise the operations of other production chemists assigned to production department to maximize efficiency.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A. Advanced degree in Chemistry with experience in organic synthesis.
B. Knowledge in the interpretation of GC, HPLC, MS, and NMR sprectra
C. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chemdraw
D. Ability to multi-task & exercise independent judgment
E . Previous management experience preferred
